last wednesday was a junky day....personally speaking. i spent the latter part of the day/evening curled up under the covers weeping. too much? hey...i'm just being honest.
i wasn't able to see a really good friend who had come in town...and lets face it...to me a quality time person...thats what set it off. on top of that, i had allowed myself to be on speaking terms with the Devil and his lying self....bad idea. just sent me spiraling into a pit of sadness that God literally yanked me out of. in my weakness He is strong...right? right!
as the night progressed, i started to pray. i prayed hard..."dear Lord, save me from this pit!" just as i did that, God reminded me of a few specific people i had been praying for, so i prayed for them amidst my cries for help. wouldn't you know it...i started to feel lighter. my prayers for those people, turned into rejoicing for those people. and not just for them...for who God created them to be and what He was doing in their lives.
after that prayer, i let one know that i was lifting them up. the Sweets had learned that it was important to let people know when you're praying for them, so i thought it was a good idea. i was almost instantly messaged back with a "how did you know?" type answer. God. is. awesome.
there i found myself, out of the pit, looking down and saying to the Devil "oh YEAH? NOW WHAT???" ok...a little dramatic...but you catch my drift.
God literally said "oh no you're not!" and pulled me straight up out of that pit. one small prayer turned it all around. not only did He do that, but He has continually showed me the past few days, just how much i matter to Him. it came through the sweet thought of a 3 year old "but where's miss tiffy?" it came through verse after verse, like Psalm 61:2, 1 Corinthians 2:9, and 2 Kings 20:5. it was also in the sweet screech of a 2 year old exclaiming "you're back!" and the rush of 3 little ones clinging to my legs like i had been gone a century.
God is good. always. even in the pit. i have been overwhelmed by His goodness. i am so undeserving, yet He still loves me. just like the song says, "your love never fails, it never gives up, it never runs out on me."
even in your pit, whatever it may be, God loves you. He wants to rescue you. all you have to do is reach out your hand and grab His. don't worry...He can handle your weight.
