standing in power.

in Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
this cornerstone, this solid ground
firm through the fiercest drought and storm
what heights of love, what depths of peace
when fears are stilled, when striving cease
my comforter, my all in all
here in the love of Christ, i'll stand

in Christ alone, who took on flesh
fullness of God in helpless babe
this gift of love, and righteousness
scorned by the ones He came to save
'til on that cross, as Jesus died
the wrath of God, was satisfied
for every sin, on him was lain
here in the death of Christ, i live

there in the ground, His body lay
light of the world, by darkness slain
then bursting forth, in glorious day
up from the grave he rose again
and as He stands, in victory
sin's curse has lost its grip on me
for i am His, and He is mine
bought with the precious blood of Christ

no guilt in life, no fear in death
this is the power of Christ in me
from life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
no power of hell, no scheme of man
can ever pluck me from His hand
'til He returns or calls me home
here in the power of Christ i'll stand
In Christ Alone sung by Avalon

i've really loved this song for quite some time now. i don't think its one of those songs you can just listen to. something about it calls you to sing along. i don't know about you, but this song makes me want to give praise, honor, glory, and cry. my goodness, it stirs every emotion. as i sit here, writing, i keep stopping to sing, therefore this blog post is taking forever.

it humbles me, every single time, to think that Jesus saved me. i know i've written about this before, but really, when it comes to Jesus being awesome, why not write about it repeatedly?

i will be traveling halfway across the planet on friday. i am scared. nervous even. then i hear this song and its like a smack in the forehead. its like God is saying:
"tiffany, i've never left you. what makes you think i will now?"

on my first trip to asia, ever, i found this verse.
"I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, i will not be shaken. therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. you have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence."
Acts 2:25-28 (Ps. 16:8-11)

i think i often forget the power of Christ. i relish in His love and comfort, but when He gently reminds me of His power, i am in complete awe. anyone that can defeat death is powerful in my book. i am so glad that i serve a POWERFUL King!
