weary? find rest.
28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
i feel like this is a lesson i am always learning. sometimes i think i don't believe that His burden is light and His yoke easy. in my human brain, it just doesn't make sense. why would someone else take my burdens? why in the world would He want my problems? because He is gentle. and promises rest for my weary soul. what a comfort to know that the God of the universe...the one who created everything...wants and does give rest for my weariness.
whew. i am already feeling more rested.
Matthew 11:28-30
how easy do i forget that passage? lately i have been extremely busy. story of my life...right? sometimes i long to just take a nap and sleep the day away, but alas, i cannot do that. the demands of life are much greater than taking a nap. don't get me wrong, sometimes i cave and take one, because they are wonderful...seriously.
but with all that has gone on in the past couple of months, there are huge burdens on my shoulders. from family stuff, to responsibilities at work growing, to ministry, there is just a huge pile of stuff. but how easy is it to turn it to God? i mean, i should be doing that, but the control side of me is holding it in. not only that, but drowning me in this ridiculous cycle of complacency.
